Sarasota, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Police here ended up fighting a man who got combative as officers went to a residence on Gore Court to assist Sarasota County Emergency Services with an ill and violent patient.
Officers say when Chad Washington opened the door and saw police he tried to slam the door in their face. When officers tried to hold the door open, Washington punched two officers. The battle continued with Washington punching, kicking and biting the officers.
Other officers were called in and were able to subdue Washington. Washington was taken to Sarasota Memorial for treatment of minor injuries and then on to jail.
Officers learned that Washington was in possession of MDMA and they believe he was under the influence of spice.
Washington is charged with three counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and possession of a controlled substance.
