Man Dies in Pinellas Park Fire

Pinellas Park, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A man died after his home caught fire Friday night, police said.

Pinellas Park firefighters responding to a structure fire at 5549 97th Terrace North at about 7:35 p.m. found Gilbert Murphy, 60, unconscious on a recliner in his bedroom. Rescuers took him to a hospital where he died, according to a news release from the Pinellas Park Police Department.

Firefighters believe that food left on a stove might have caught fire, and the flames spread from there. The state fire marshal will investigate, but so far it looks like an accident, according to the release.

The medical examiner will determine how Murphy died.
