Pump Prices Down

Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-A stop at the local station is easier to take than a week ago as gasoline prices continue to drop.  AAA says Florida gas prices declined by four cents in a week's time.

Tampa AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins predicts gas prices will slide a few cents more this week due to the decline in wholesale prices.  Jenkins also says both crude oil and gasoline output have remained strong.

There is some bad news in the forecast.  Jenkins says prices are still forecast to rise by at least 20 cents a gallon in the coming months as refineries switch to summer blend gas.  Higher demand is also expected to be a factor in any price increase.

The most expensive gas prices in Florida are in the West Palm/Boca Raton area at $2.63. The least expensive gas prices in Florida are in Punta Gorda at $2.42.
