Elections in Pinellas Co. Tuesday

Pinellas County, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Voters in Pinellas Park, Bellair and Treasure Island elect mayors Tuesday, in two of the elections in 12 municipalities across Pinellas County.

The county will operate 39 polling places. Voters can learn their precinct by entering their address at the Supervisor of Elections website, VotePinellas.com

March elections in the county typically have a turnout of about 30%, according to Julie Marcus, Pinellas County Deputy Supervisor of Elections. Elections for governor draw roughly 50-55% of eligible voters, while presidential contests bring as many as 77% out.

She encourages people eligible to take part. "What's on the ballot are just as important as in presidential elections," she said.

As of Monday, slightly more than 16% of voters had returned ballots by mail. Those who had requested mail-in ballots that they have not returned can drop them off at any of the three Supervisor of Elections offices.

They can also bring their mail-in ballot to their polling place, have it cancelled, and vote in person instead, Marcus said. Polls are open between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
