One Dead After Tampa House Fire

Tampa, Fla. (Newsradio 970 WFLA)-A woman is dead and four Tampa Police officers are recovered from injuries after attempting to rescue a woman from a house fire at 3405 East Fern Street.

The officers were first on the scene and rushed into the burning structure, but found the women dead. Three of the officers had to be transported to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.  The other officer, Lieutenant Bryan Hill, was treated at the scene.

The woman killed in the fire is said to have been in her fifties, but her name has not yet been released.

The Arson Task Force is investigating as is standard protocol when there is a fire-related death. Investigators say the fire does not appear to have been suspicious.
