Plant City, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-CSX Railroad has decided to close six crossings here just as the Florida Strawberry Festival is in full swing. The closures are expected to make it more difficult to get around the city with all the festival traffic.
The crossings are on South Maryland Avenue, South Warnell Street, South Lake Avenue, South Palmer Street, South Evers Street and South Howard Street. CSX says the closings will allow workers time to make needed repairs on the crossings.
City Engineer Mike Schenk says they've set up a series of detours to reroute traffic around the crossing closures. The repairs could take up to five days.
