Two Men Rescued After Boat Floods West Of Hudson

St. Petersburg, Fla.(970 WFLA)- The Coast Guard rescued two boaters after their 44-foot boat flooded 14 miles west of Hudson, Tuesday.

Rescued were Ronald Letchner and Hung Fang Nguyen.

At 1:46 p.m. Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders received a 911 transfer call from Pasco County Central Dispatch reporting a 44-foot boat was taking on water and needed emergency assistance.

An HC-130 Hercules aircrew from Air Station Clearwater was diverted and a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew was launched to assist. The Hercules aircrew deployed two dewatering pumps and the RB-M boatcrew secured the source of flooding. A commercial salvage company arrived on scene and transferred the men and their 44-foot boat to shore. There were no reported injuries.
