Fort Meade, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A dispute earlier in the week led to the fatal shooting of a man Friday, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

Jimmy Lee Hester shot Charles McGhee around 1:20 p.m., according to a news release from PCSO. First responders took McGhee, 30, to Bartow Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Hester, 48, turned himself in to the Fort Meade Sheriff's Station shortly after the shooting. He faces charges of manslaughter, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and tampering with evidence.

Hester and McGhee had argued earlier in the week, and deputies believe that spurred the fatal altercation Friday. Both have extensive criminal histories, the news release said. "Here's another example of how dealing  in drugs, or associating with those who deal in drugs, is violent business," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. "Luckily this suspect went to jail shortly after killing a man in broad  daylight, before he hurt anyone else."
