Ruskin, Fla. (970 WFLA)- Deputies flying the Hillsborough Sheriff's Department Helicopter made a middle of the night river rescue!
Deputies lowered an inflatable life raft to a man that was clinging to his capsized jon boat in the Little Manatee River.
A person who lives near the area of 10th Street Southwest and Woodland Estates Avenue in Ruskin heard 47 year old Robert Sickler calling out for help at around 2 o'clock Thursday morning and called 911.
Sickler was fishing alone when the tide began moving out to the bay, he tried to paddle but the current became to strong and pulled his small boat into the U.S.41 bridge pylon which caused it to capsize.
Sickler was not injured.
