St. Pete Teen Arrested for School Threat

Snapchat Threat on School

St. Petersburg, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A 14-year-old Lealman Innovation Academy student faces charges for posting a photo on Snapchat that suggested that he intended to attack the school this week, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

Edward Charles Osgood told detectives that he meant it as a joke, according to a news release from the PCSO. The picture shows Osgood holding what looks like a rifle with a caption, "Round Three on Florida on Tuesday." Round One was the Parkland massacre February 14th. Round Two was the caption of another Snapchat photo that Osgood told detectives he had seen and copied.

Osgood told detectives he had spent at a friend's house, where he was checking his Snapchat account and saw a post of a white male  wearing a black outfit holding a rifle.  The caption on the photo read,  "Round 2 on Florida tomorrow."  (This was in reference to a threatening  Snapchat post in Spartanburg, South Carolina that went viral throughout  the state of Florida.)

Due to the threatening nature of Osgood's Snapchat post, detectives arrested him for Written Threats to Kill or Do Bodily Injury.  Detectives say they also recovered the AR 15 style rifle depicted in the threatening Snapchat post from his friend's house. It was a BB gun.
