Cops: Drunk Driver Kills Pedestrian on Sidewalk

St. Pete Beach, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A drunk driver without a valid license struck and killed a pedestrian walking on a sidewalk Saturday, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said. 

Carolyn Yovan, 51, drove up the curb and onto the sidewalk near the intersection Captiva Circle and Blind Pass Road in St Pete Beach. Her Lexus SUV struck Peter Chenhall, 40, as he walked on the sidewalk, according to a news release from the PCSO. He died later at a hospital.

Detectives say that Yovan drove away from the scene and crashed again at Gulf Boulevard and Gulf Winds Drive, about two miles south of the original accident. She faces charges of Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, Felony Leaving the Scene of  a Crash with Death, and Felony Driving Under the Influence Manslaughter  (DUI).
