SARASOTA (970 WFLA) --Democrats have been working to turn state legislative elections across the country into a referendum on President Trump.
In Sarasota they focused on putting money into the campaign of Margaret Good, and its paid off.
In Tuesday's election for State House of Representatives District 72, with 32 precincts reporting, Democrat Margret Goode is the winner, she garnered just over 52 percent of the vote over Republican James Vernon Buchanan's 44 percent, Libertarian Alison Foxall recieved 3 percent. The seat was abandoned by Republican Alex Miller last year.
