St. Petersburg, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A victim of a home invasion fatally stabbed the intruder early Sunday, police said.
Jonathan Garcia, 29, along with his girlfriend and her daughter slept inside an apartment at 545 77th Ave. North where Zachery Eggleston, 23, forced his way in, according to a news release from St. Petersburg Police.
Garcia and Eggleston began fighting, during which Garcia stabbed the intruder. Eggleston died later at a hospital.
Both men live in the complex, but did not know each other, police said. Their investigation continues, but police said that Garcia does not face charges right now.
