St. Petersburg, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A teenager accused of car theft now faces a murder charge after the passenger involved died, police said.
Myles Abbott, 14, stole a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro and lost control at high speed as he drove on 11th Ave. South last November 19, according to a news release from St. Petersburg Police.
The car rammed into a tree. Abbott suffered serious injuries. His passenger in the car, Alijah Armstead, 15, suffered critical injuries, to which he succumbed January 1 of this year, police said.
The murder charge comes because of the passenger dying during the commission of a felony, the release said.
