Hillsborough leader outraged over 911 outage

Stacy White is steamed about the 911 outage this week.

"People could have died as a result of this.  Local resources were used to respond to this crisis.  I'd like to know how much this has cost taxpayers and Frontier should most certainly be responsible for repaying this," said White.

He told fellow Hillsborough County Commissioners he believes Frontier Communications, which knocked out emergency phone service during network maintenance, should be investigated or audited.

White said Frontier should also reimburse the county the cost of managing emergency services while the phone system was down and blames the carrier for not having adequate safeguards while working on the system.

Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota counties as well as a number municipalities also encountered 911 outages Wednesday.
