Early Morning Joy Ride Lands Teens In Police Custody

St. Petersburg, Fla. (970 WFLA)-Four St. Petersburg teenagers are in custody, after taking a stolen van out for a joy ride around 3 Thursday morning. 

A St. Petersburg Police Officer noticed the van in the Riviera Bay area, near 83rd Avenue and 8th Street, without the headlights on, and tried to make a traffic stop.  The van didn't stop,  instead, it made a turn into a church parking lot at 77th Street and 16th Street,  made a u-turn and drove directly at the patrol car,  coming within several feet of hitting the officer.        

The van stopped after turning down a dead-end street in the area of 94th Avenue North and 1st Street. The four teenagers, are facing preliminary felony charges, further charges may be coming, as the investigation continues.  

Driver: 16 year old Alyssa Derosier,-grand theft of a motor vehicle -fleeing and eluding a police officer -aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer -burglary of an unoccupied conveyance.

Passenger: 17 year old  Alexcia Cole,-Burglary of an unoccupied conveyance.

Passenger: 17 year old Aliyah Card,Burglary of an unoccupied conveyance.

Passenger: 17 year old Austin Nixon-violation of probation

St. Petersburg Police report, there were no crashes, injuries or damage to the stolen van.
