Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Floridians are paying more for a gallon of gasoline than they were at this time a year ago. Tampa AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins says higher crude oil prices are pushing pump prices up.
Jenkins says the price of oil climbed another $3 last week to set a new multi-year high. Last week's close of $66.44 a barrel is the highest daily settlement price since December of 2014.
The Florida average of $2.55 a gallon is 13 cents more than a month ago and 24 cents more than last year at this time.
The most expensive gas can be found in the West Palm-Boca Raton area at $2.71. The least expensive gas in Florida can be found in Jacksonville at $2.48. The Tampa Bay average is $2.49, but can be found cheaper if you shop around.
