PORT RICHEY, FL (970 WFLA) -- As of now, the person who bought Friday's winning Mega Millions ticket at a 7-Eleven in Port Richey, still hasn't come forward.
Don Creley (creeley) with the Florida Lottery's Tampa office says they'll have to claim the $450 million jackpot in person... in Tallahassee. They'll also have to produce a state-issued photo ID reveal their name, age and city to the public.
Creley says the winner (who could be one of our listeners) should sign the ticket immediately and keep it in a safe place, such as a deposit box. Creley says the winner should line up legal and financial planning assistance before going public. The winner has 60 days to accept the lump-sum payment of $281 million, longer if they're willing to take payments over time.
Creley has one more bit of advice for the winner: Don't tell anyone before claiming the prize.
The 7-Eleven that sold the winning ticket also gets a bonus of $100,000.
