Tampa, Fla. (970 WFLA)- Two dead after a shooting at an east Tampa teen event.
Colonel Donna Lusczynski from the Hillsborough Sheriffs Office, says it happened around 11:30 last night at a storage warehouse unit called "The Club", on 50th St north, north of I-4.
Over 150 teens had gathered at the event, but it was cancelled early, after numerous fights had started.
Two armed security men say they heard what they thought were fireworks going off, went outside to investigate, when suddenly they came under gunfire. In fear for their lives, the two returned fire, shooting a male and a female that were inside the vehicle.
The two deceased individuals inside the vehicle, a male and a female, have been identified as 25 year-old Jyhaad Grant and 15 year-old Julissa Jackson of Tampa. The facility is a storage building that is rented out for events.
50th street is closed between East Clifton Street and Idlewild while detectives continue the investigation.
