They're Headed for Impasse in Hillsborough County

The Hillsborough Classroom Teacher's Association says it's at a bargaining impasse with the district.

That means a hearing officer will intervene and attempt to bring both sides to an agreement.

At issue are teacher pay raises.  There've been protests and a lot of angry teachers over what they say was a promised $4,000 pay raise that the district has decided not to give them.

Hillsborough School superintendent Jeff Eakins has stressed that there's isn't enough money in the budget and he says the budget woes can compromise the district's standing with the investment community.

The union says any progress on the issue won't happen until after the holidays.
