Nurse Arrested For Drug Trafficking

Nurse Jodi Levins, arrested in Polk County, Fla., for drug trafficking and fraud

Lakeland, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Polk County undercover detectives have arrested Advanced Nurse Practitioner Jodi Levins for trafficking in oxycodone and for fraud.

Investigators say the 52 year-old nurse from Winter Haven had been writing fraudulent prescriptions for former patients after she had been fired from a doctor's office.  Deputies say Levins picked up the prescriptions at pharmacies on behalf of the patients. They say she kept the drugs for her own use.

Levins is officially charged with 32 counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, six counts of criminal use of personal ID and seven counts of trafficking in oxycodone.

Levins used to work for the Polk County Sheriff's Office as a legal assistant until 2005.
