Death Penalty an Option in Seminole Heights Murder Case

Hillsborough State Attorney Andrew Warren treads lightly on the issue of the death penalty against suspected Seminole Heights killer Howell Donaldson.

Warren says the 24-year-old has not been formally charged with murder--that'll be presented to a grand jury soon.

And he says there are a number of factors that need to be carefully considered before making this a capital case.

Warren says if this case meets all the state and federal statutory requirements, then he'll pursue the death penalty.

He also vows to be as transparent as he can about the prosecution of Donaldson, but cautions that his office will protect the integrity of this case.

Meantime, Donaldson has made his first court appearance.  The judge denied bond and has scheduled a bond hearing for next Tuesday.
