St. Petersburg, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Pinellas County deputies say 23 year-old Matthew Lukine Brown is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the right thigh with a stolen pistol. Brown was treated at Bayfront Hospital and has already been transported to jail.
Deputies say it all started when they spotted a car speeding near 26th Avenue, South, and 13th Street, South. Deputies observed a bright flash inside the car as they were following. Deputies later determined that brown accidentally shot himself as he was trying to get rid of a gun. That is also when deputies learned the gun had been stolen from a vehicle in Largo.
The St. Petersburg man is charged with Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving and Grand Theft of a Firearm.
