Safety Harbor, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A pit bull attacked its owner and one of her daughters inside their home Friday night, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

The dog, named Buster, got loose inside their home on West Gate Drive and attacked two other dogs in the house. When Heidi Cooper, 45, and her daughter Meaghan Tokay, 14, tried to intervene, Buster turned on them. Cooper's other daughter, Sierra Willson, 22, rushed to their aid and stabbed the dog several times with a knife, according to a PCSO news release. The dog died.

Cooper and Tokay suffered serious injuries from dog bites. A family member told deputies that they normally kept Buster in a separate room because they knew he was aggressive, the news release said.
