NEW PORT RICHEY (970 WFLA) --Life in prison. That's the sentence for Adam Matos, convicted of murdering four people in 2014 in Hudson.
A New Port Richey jury did not vote unanimously in favor of death, as the state now requires. After the recommendation, Richard Brown addressed the judge. His brother Greg was among Matos' victims.
Brown said Matos had "no remorse" and "was obviously not a part of humanity."
Before he was sentenced, Matos said he was "sorry" to the victims' families. People in the courtroom could be heard saying "no" as he spoke.
Judge Mary Handsel called "ridiculous" Matos' claim that he committed the murders for his young son, four at the time of the killings.
