Tampa, Fla. (970 WFLA)-  Police  are  investigating a  shooting in Seminole Heights, where a mans body,  later identified as Ronald Felton was found in the middle of Nebraska Avenue.  Witnesses tell police that Mr. Felton was crossing the street to meet someone when the suspect came up behind him and shot him.

Tampa Police Spokesman Steve Hegarty says the call came in around 4:51 this morning of shots fired.   This location, is just  few blocks away from where the memorial stands  for the unsolved murders of three people,  killed by a gunman a month ago.

Police have released a description of a suspect, a black male, 6'-6'2", thin build, light complexion, armed with a large black pistol last seen wearing all black clothing.

Hagerty says police are going door to door asking residents if they had seen or heard anything, and asking if they have surveillance cameras that may have captured  any suspicious person or activity at the time of the shooting.

Hagerty says the investigation is expected to last several hours, he's asking those in the area to stay in their houses,  while police  search for the suspect.

Anyone who owns a gun should verify its location; if it is missing, it should be reported immediately. Anyone who may have any information, should call the Tampa Police at 813.231.6130.
