Tampa, Fla-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Gas prices here in the Tampa Bay area are in a holding pattern for now, but that may soon change in a bad way.
The Tampa-Based Auto Club Group says prices held at the $2.40 per gallon mark for the past week. That price is up from the $2.20 a gallon we were paying here a year ago, but it's better than the $2.57 that same gallon cost a month ago.
AAA does expect prices to start rising soon. The Auto Club's Mark Jenkins says it would not surprise him to see prices rise 5 to 10 cents over the next week. Jenkins blames higher demand and falling supplies for any increase we may see.
The most expensive gas prices in Florida are at $2.56 in the West Palm-Boca Raton area. Least expensive gas prices are at $2.26 in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area.
