Pinellas Deputy Fired for Inappropriate Conduct

LARGO (970 WFLA) -- Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri says he's fired one of his deputies for misconduct.

Gualtieri says deputy Brian Britt paid a woman whom he arrested, and her friend, to come over to his house in Pasco County for "conversation". But when they arrived, he told them they'd have to do more than talk, if they wanted the money.

Britt was sent to an Oldsmar home last December 31 to arrest 18 year old Dane'jah Scott on a domestic battery charge. He found her wearing only a towel after getting out of the shower. He followed her into the bathroom and saw a second woman naked, according to Gualtieri. Britt engaged Scott in "flirtatious" conversation as they waited for a jail van. He found out both worked at adult businesses as dancers.

Gualtieri says the women arrived at Britt's house drunk, and Britt was too.

The sheriff says the encounter took place while Britt's 11-year-old daughter was asleep in the house.
