The Florida Department of Health says there' is now a locally transmitted case of the Zika virus in Manatee County.
But the health department adds that there is no evidence of an ongoing transmission of the mosquito-borne virus, so the case does not warrant establishing a Zika zone.
The state health department says a couple traveled to Cuba. One had symptoms of Zika after they traveled there. Upon their return to Manatee County, a mosquito bit the infected person, then bit and infected the partner.
There've been 187 confirmed cases of Zika in Florida this year with the majority being travel-related.
