In July, the body of 13-year-old Janessa Shannon was found in a shallow grave in the remote Triple Creek Nature Preserve in Hillsborough County. She had been reported missing a couple weeks earlier.
At the time, Janessa had been staying at her dad's Riverview house after she was grounded for sneaking out of her mother's Bradenton home.
On Thursday of this week, Hillsborough detectives have charged that dad--Nahshon Shannon--with first degree murder and aggravated child abuse.
Investigators say Shannon has a lengthy criminal record, but won't release any details of this case right now. They do say Janessa and her dad got into an argument that ended in her death.
