Rabies Alert in Wesley Chapel

WESLEY CHAPEL (970 WFLA) -- A rabies alert has been posted for some neighborhoods in the Wesley Chapel area of Pasco County. 

The alert is posted for the next 60 days, for an area between State Road 54 and Chancey Road, and between Morris Bridge Road and Ashton Oaks Boulevard. It includes the Dove Run community.

The Florida Department of Health says a raccoon tested positive for rabies Tuesday. 

DOH says all domestic animals should be vaccinated and all contact with wild animals should be avoided, especially including but not limited to raccoons, bats, foxes and coyotes.
