Tarpon Springs, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A motorcyle rider died after a three-vehicle crash Saturday night, Tarpon Springs Police said.
Barrett Richard Phelps, 43, crashed his bike into the back of a Ford Mustang making a legal u-turn on U.S. 19 at Mango Street, according to a news release. The impact at about 8:15 p.m. threw Phelps into the median. A Chevrolet SUV struck the motorcycle and both vehicles caught fire.
Phelps was pronounced dead at Florida Hospital of North Pinellas shortly after 9 p.m. Two adults and three children all escaped the SUV with no injuries. Two people in the Mustang suffered minor injuries.
Police continue to investigate the crash, the news release said.
