Tampa, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Colonel Chad Chronister has been sworn in as Hillsborough County's new sheriff. Chronister is replacing the retiring David Gee.
Governor Rick Scott appointed Chronister to take over for Gee until the next general election in November of 2018. Chronister has already indicated he will run for election to the job. Gee is stepping down after a 39 year career.
The 49 year-old Chronister has been with the Sheriff's Office for 25 years. Chronister is married to Nikki DeBartolo, daughter of former San Francisco 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo.
