ATLANTA (970 WFLA) -- Assuming they haven't been postponed because of Hurricane Irma, this could be the day local government signs on the dotted line to get Atlanta Braves spring training.
Jeff Maulsby is director of Business and Economic Development in Sarasota County. He says there are votes scheduled by the Sarasota County and North Port city commissions, and the West Villages improvement board. Maulsby says the community expects the Braves to contribute to the South Sarasota County economy and to spur development.
The Braves are expected to play their first spring game in North Port in 2019.
