Lakeland, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-Hurricane Irma's winds caused a Polk County deputy and paramedic to be trapped in a sheriff's cruiser along Lakeland Hills Boulevard, near Robson Street.
Polk County Sheriff Sergeant Chris Lynne and Polk County Fire-Rescue Paramedic James Schaill were stuck in the vehicle for almost two hours after a power pole and electric lines fell on their vehicle as Irma was ripping through.
Lakeland Electric crews responded and were able to disconnect the lines to free the two men. Both were uninjured and returned to work shortly after the incident.
The two men were traveling from Lakeland Regional Medical Center after dropping off an elderly patient when the power pole blew over.
