Irma Takes Venice Water Plant Down

VENICE, FL (970 WFLA) -- Venice has been forced to shut down its city water plant because of Hurricane Irma.

The city says there "appears to be a  significant break" in the water system. Employees can't go out to address it until the storm passes. As a result, Venice water customers have no tap water and no way to flush toilets.

When service is restored, there will be a 48-hour boil notice.
