2 pm Wednesday: Irma

MIAMI (970 WFLA) -- The National Hurricane Center says Irma remains dangerous, as it delivers hurricane force winds to the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Hurricane force winds reported at Culebra, reaching 88 miles per hour. 

Main points from the National Hurricane Center's 2 p.m. advisory... 

Irma’s top winds still 185… it’s almost on top of St. Thomas in the U-S Virgin Islands, and centered about 90 miles east of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

It’s moving fast… WNW at 16 mph.

Curacao has called off the warning for Sint Maartin and Antigua has discontinued the warning for Anguilla.

Otherwise:

USVI, Puerto Rico, incl. Vieques and Culebra, Dominican Republic’s northern coast, northern Haiti, southeastern Bahamas and Turks and Caicos remain under warnings. All other watches and warnings remain the same.

5-day cones will be updated at 5 pm… the current one shows the center of Irma off Cape Canaveral at 8 am on Monday…

All of Florida east of Tallahassee remains within the wobble cone.
