State's Price-Gouging Hotline Is Open

Tampa, Fla. (970 WFLA)-  With Florida under a state of emergency in response to Hurricane Irma, the state's price-gouging hotline is now open.

Attorney General Pam Bondi activated the hotline last night, saying Floridians preparing for Irma should not be inhibited by unlawful price increases on needed supplies.  State law prohibits extreme increases in the price of essential commodities such as food, water, hotels, ice, gasoline, lumber and equipment needed as a direct result of an officially declared emergency.

Bondi urges anyone who suspects price gouging to report it to her office by calling 866-9-NO-SCAM.
