NORTH PORT (970 WFLA) -- A woman is accused of starving and abandoning two dogs at a home in North Port.
Sarasota Sheriff's Deputies found them July 6th, at a home in the 4400 block of Maraldo Drive. They say a Boxer mix named "Remy" was skin and bones, while a female Pit Bull named "Puppy" was covered in fleas and missing fur.
The dogs were kept on a porch covered in urine and feces, without food or water.
Deputies arrested 26 year old Kelsy Lewis of Port Charlotte Thursday... they say her boyfriend was in jail and she was supposed to care for the dogs. She claimed to have moved out in March, and claimed to have no idea who was taking care of the pets. But neighbors said Lewis continued to live there until early July.
Remy was euthanized, but Puppy will soon be available for adoption.
