TALLAHASSEE (970 WFLA) -- The governor's office says Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers helping out in Texas, have already rescued more than 200 Texans.
As of daytime Tuesday, the governor's office says nearly 125 fish and wildlife officers are in Texas, along with more than 40 boats, 17 high water vehicles, and eight shallow draft vessels. FWC also has two Mobile Command Centers in Texas, where it's been staging since Sunday.
FWC Colonel Curtis Brown says that by the end of the day, 145 "grouper troopers" will be on the ground in the Lone Star State. He says FWC knows how to deal with hurricanes and high water, and its expertise and equipment can provide a lot of help to embattled first responders.
