Search & Rescue Task Force From Bay Area Heads To Texas

Tampa, Fla. (970 WFLA)-Urban Search and Rescue Florida Task Force 3, consisting of firefighters from Tampa, Hillsborough and St. Petersburg are traveling  to Texas today to support rescue crews in southeast Texas.

Catastrophic and life-threatening flooding from what was once Hurricane Harvey continues to hover over the region.  People were urged over the weekend to seek refuge on the roofs of their homes as the water rapidly rose and scores of rescues have been carried out.

The State Of Texas through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact has requested 2 Swift Water Rescue teams and support staff. The total staff deployment is 2 Swift Water Rescue Teams comprised of 18 members and 7 logistical support members.  The crew is expected to remain in the southeast Texas area through September 6th.
