Canadian Chicken Skewer Recall

Washington,D.C.(970 WFLA)- The government has issued a recall on a food product out of Quebec, Canada, because of possible listeria contamination.

The USDA says the one point thirty one  pound packages of "West End Cusine Grilled Mediterranean Style Chicken Skewers Hand Made with Chicken Breast"  and the one point nine pound packages of "Expresco Grilled Garlic and Herb Chicken Skewers" should be thrown away or returned to the store.

The package's show the establishment number 36 inside the Canadian Food Inspection Agency mark of inspection. 

Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms.   In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery or life-threatening infection of the newborn. In addition, serious and sometimes fatal infections in older adults and persons with weakened immune systems. Listeriosis is treated with antibiotics.
