DUI Crash Kills Scooter Rider

Largo, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A drunk driver killed a man riding a scooter in a traffic crash Sunday night, Largo Police said. 

At about 6:07 p.m., James A. Mayer, 42, drove his Ford pickup truck into the scooter ridden by David Stinger, 59, at the intersection of Rosery Rd. and Missouri Ave., a police news release said. The scooter had the right of way. 

Stinger died from his injuries. Police arrested Mayer on charges of DUI manslaughter and driving with a suspended license. Their investigation continues, according to the release.
