Port Richey, Fla.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-An explosion and fire at a home on Velvet Drive has a dog breeder hospitalized and 13 dogs dead.
Fire-rescue says the explosion happened as the breeder was refueling the generator that supplies power to his house. The man received burns over 40% of his body. He's in critical condition.
The fire spread to the house next door, but all the people got out safely. Both houses have been deemed as uninhabitable.
Fire investigators say 12 dogs died in the breeder's house and one died in the house next door. Three dogs were rescued.
