Three People Dead After Crash On Selmon Expressway

Tampa, Fla. (970 WFLA)- Three people dead, one person facing three counts of DUI manslaughter, after a crash involving four cars on the Selmon Expressway. 

Tampa Police Spokesman Steve Hegarty,  says it happened just after 4 pm Thursday when 29 year old  Amber Perera of Brandon, was heading east, and lost control of her car roughly a half mile east of the Euclid Avenue exit.

Police say Perera veered into the grass median, causing a second eastbound car to cross the grass median into the westbound lane, into oncoming traffic.  Perera kept driving, police located her a few minutes later. 

The second car crashed into two westbound vehicles, and burst into flames, killing the  three people inside.  Those inside one of the westbound vehicles, were not hurt.  The driver of the other west bound vehicle was taken to the hospital suffering from non life threatening injuries. 

The three victims who died have not been identified until family members can be notified.      Along with the three counts of DUI Manslaughter,Perera's charged with DUI serious bodily injury, hit and run failure to remain at the scene involving serious injury,death and tampering with evidence.
