Washington, D.C.-(Newsradio 970 WFLA)-The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has issued an updated Atlantic hurricane season Forecast.
The new forecast still calls for an above normal season, but the new numbers are a little higher than the initial outlook. NOAA now believes we'll have between 14 and 19 named storms, five to nine hurricanes and two to five growing into major hurricanes. The numbers include the six named storms we've already had.
Forecasters say the higher than normal numbers are made possible by weaker wind shear, weaker tradewinds and warm sea temperatures.
The hurricane season runs through the end of November.
