ST. PETERSBURG FL (970 WFLA) -- Two Florida Highway Patrol troopers acted quickly to rescue a man who went into the water near the Sunshine Skyway Monday evening. That man is now recovering in a local hospital.
FHP says an Uber driver dropped the man off at the rest area around 8:30 last night. That driver got concerned enough to call for help. By the time two troopers arrived, the man had walked out to the fishing pier. When he saw the troopers, he went into the water.
Troopers took off their gear and went into the water to get him. By the time they pulled him out, he was unconscious. They performed CPR and revived the man. He's in stable condition at Bayfront, at last report.
