SARASOTA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A Sarasota accountant has become the target of angry callers who have mistaken him for a similarly named person involved with the shark dragging video.
Bob Wenzel, a CPA who's office is located on Fruitville Road in Sarasota, said he's been bombarded with dozens of insults, threats, swears, and other unpleasantries since a Palmetto man with the same name was cited as being in the video, which has gone viral.
“The last 10 days have been most hurtful. It’s been a living hell. It’s been a nightmare trying to figure out where we are in this story. Where I am,” Wenzel told News Channel 8.
Wenzel said he's heard 30 to 40 calls full of cussing. Here are some examples:
“You know what’s great about international waters is that I can sink your ******* boat,” said one caller.
“What a piece of **** your *** is,” said another.
One of the callers wants him gone.
“Your whole family. I would get out of town. Go lookin’ for ya, and they want your head and they have money on your head. You piece of ****, alright?” the caller said.
Wenzel said he's called police and hired a Public Relations firm to clear things up. But the calls keep coming in.
