Florida Reports First Sexually Transmitted Zika Case This Year

The Florida Department of Health says there's been the first sexually transmitted case of the Zika virus in Florida this year.

It's been confirmed in Pinellas County.

The health department says this was a travel related case because the patient contracted the virus from a partner who had recently traveled to Cuba.

They both tested positive for the mosquito-borne virus.

There have been 118 reported Zika cases in Florida in 2017, most of which have been travel related.

The health department says there's no evidence that any of these cases were transmitted throught mosquitoes in Florida.
