Tampa, Fla. (970 WFLA)- The Coast Guard rescued two Tampa fishermen from the bay Monday as Tropical Storm Emily was bearing down on the coast.
47 year old Tung Le and his brother, 41 year old Thanh Le, told the coast guard their boat began taking on water after a pump failed. As the waves kicked up the boat began to sink.
The two held on to a Tampa Bay Cut Delta Channel navigational aid and called Pinellas County 911, who transferred the call to the St. Petersburg Coast Guard. No one was injured.
Petty Officer Alejandro Diaz, said, "Especially now that we are in hurricane season, it's imperative that mariners double check their local weather forecast before heading out on their next boating adventure".
